For this project we were assigned to take pictures of blocks that spell out our name. I added a stuffed elephant and a Disneyland hat to add the effect of a childlike environment. I put a white board underneath the blocks and also one behind the scene. I had 2 flashlights for the light source. I had one on the bottom left and had someone hold the other flashlight above the scene on the right. The second flashlight adds nice shadows. I then took the photo and opened it into Photoshop. I created 7 different letters on 7 different documents. I first thought of using contrasting colors for the borders of the letters. But after creating the red, green, and white squares on the document, I came up with the idea of creating a watermelon type of side for the blocks. I figured it would make the blocks more childlike and fun. I then put on the letters and added a bubble-like effect on the letters. I then decided to put little black seeds around the black letters. I put on all the letter documents onto the front side of the blocks or the side that faces the most front. I added more photos on the other sides of the blocks. I then selected all the sides and changed all the blending modes and made them blend into the blocks. Finally, I cut all the sides of the blocks that have something covered.
